Given,

The length of the hall = 8 metres

The width of the hall = 11/2 metres = 5.5 metres

The cost of carpeting = Rs. 21/4 per m² = Rs. 5.25 per m²

To find,

The total cost of carpeting the given hall.

Solution,

First of all we have to calculate the area of the given hall by using the following mathematical formula,

Area of hall = Length × Breadth = 8 × 5.5 = 44 m²

Now, we can solve this mathematical problem by using the normal arithmetic method,

1 m² carpeting cost = rs. 5.25

44 m² carpeting cost = 5.25 × 44 = rs. 231

Hence, the total cost of carpeting the hall is Rs. 231
