Find the cube of each of the following binomial expressions:
(i) (1/x + y/3)³
(ii) (3/x-2/x)³
(iii)(2x - 3/x)³
(iv)(4 - 1/3x)³

Given : (i) (1/x + y/3)³  (ii) (3/x - 2/x)³  (iii)(2x - 3/x)³  (iv)(4 - 1/3x)³

 

To find : cube of each of the following binomial expressions.

 

Solution :  

(i) (1/x + y/3)³

By using the identity, (a + b)³ = a³ + b³ + 3a² b + 3ab²

(1/x + y/3)³ = (1/x)³ + (y/3)³ + 3 × (1/x)² × y/3 + 3 × 1/x × (y/3)²

= 1/x³ + y³/27 + 3 × 1/x² × y/3 + 3 × 1/x × y²/9

= 1/x³ + y³/27 + y/x²  + y²/3x

(1/x + y/3)³ = 1/x³ + y³/27 + y/x²  + y²/3x
