To find : cube of each of the following binomial expressions.
Solution :
(i) (1/x + y/3)³
By using the identity, (a + b)³ = a³ + b³ + 3a² b + 3ab²
(1/x + y/3)³ = (1/x)³ + (y/3)³ + 3 × (1/x)² × y/3 + 3 × 1/x × (y/3)²
= 1/x³ + y³/27 + 3 × 1/x² × y/3 + 3 × 1/x × y²/9
= 1/x³ + y³/27 + y/x² + y²/3x
(1/x + y/3)³ = 1/x³ + y³/27 + y/x² + y²/3x
