ɢɪᴠᴇɴ :-
- Resistance (R) = 80 Ω
- Potential Difference (V) = 220 V
ᴛᴏ ғɪɴᴅ :-
- Current (I)
- Power consumed (P)
sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ :-
✞ According to Ohm's Law , we get,
➦ Potential Difference = Current × Resistance
➭ V = I × R
➭ 220 = I × 80
➭ I = 220/80
➭ I = 2.75 Amperes (A)
Hence,
- Current(I) = 2.75 Amperes (A)
Now,
We know that,
➦ Power consumed = Potential Difference × Current
➭ P = V × I
➭ P = 220 × 2.75
➭ P = 605 Watt (W)
Hence,
- Current(I) = 2.75 A
- Power(P) = 605 Watt

Given:
- Potential difference, V = 220 volt
- Resistance, R = 80 ohm
To be calculated:
Calculate the current and power consumed by a electric iron ?
Formula used:
- I = V/R
- P = I²R, V²/R, VI
Solution:
Case 1 :
We know that,
I = V/R
★ Substituting the values of potential difference and resistance in the above formula,we get
I = 220/80
I = 22/8
Current, I = 2.75 Ampere
Case 2 :
We know that,
P = I²R
= 2.75² × 80
= 2.75 × 2.75 × 80
= 605 watt
OR
P = V²/R
= (220)² / 8
= 48400 / 8
= 605 watt
OR
P = VI
= 220 × 2.75
= 605 watt
