ɢɪᴠᴇɴ :-

  • Resistance (R) = 80 Ω
  • Potential Difference (V) = 220 V

ᴛᴏ ғɪɴᴅ :-

  • Current (I)
  • Power consumed (P)

sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ :-

According to Ohm's Law , we get,

Potential Difference = Current × Resistance

V = I × R

220 = I × 80

I = 220/80

I = 2.75 Amperes (A)

Hence,

  • Current(I) = 2.75 Amperes (A)

Now,

We know that,

Power consumed = Potential Difference × Current

P = V × I

P = 220 × 2.75

P = 605 Watt (W)

Hence,

  • Current(I) = 2.75 A
  • Power(P) = 605 Watt

Given:

  • Potential difference, V = 220 volt

  • Resistance, R = 80 ohm

To be calculated:

Calculate the current and power consumed by a electric iron ?

Formula used:

  • I = V/R

  • P = I²R, V²/R, VI

Solution:

Case 1 :

We know that,

I = V/R

★ Substituting the values of potential difference and resistance in the above formula,we get

I = 220/80

I = 22/8

Current, I = 2.75 Ampere

Case 2 :

We know that,

P = I²R

= 2.75² × 80

= 2.75 × 2.75 × 80

= 605 watt

OR

P = V²/R

= (220)² / 8

= 48400 / 8

= 605 watt

OR

P = VI

= 220 × 2.75

= 605 watt
