Answer

  • Current through the circuit is 30 A

Explanation

Given

  • There are 4 resistors connected in a manner where three resistors are connected in series and one in parallel
  • All the resistors are of value 10Ω
  • Voltage accross the circuit is 3V

To Find

  • The current in the circuit

Solution

The top two and the bottom to resistors are connected in series

Case 1

➝ R{eq} = R¹+R².....

➝ R{eq} = 10Ω + 10Ω + 10Ω

➝ R{eq} = 3

[These two are connected in parallel]

Parallel Connection

➝ 1/R = 1/R¹+1/R².....

➝ 1/R = 1/30 + 1/10

➝ 1/R = 1/30 + 3/30

➝ 1/R = 4/30

➝ R = 0.1 Ω

Current in the circuit

➝ V = IR [Ohm's Law]

➝ 3 = I × 0.1

➝ 3/0.1 = I

➝ Current = 30 A

Explanation:

The three 10Ω resistors in series can be considered as a single 30Ω resistor.

Then you have a 10Ω resistor and a 30Ω resistor in parallel.

The equivalent resistance in circuit,

R=7.5Ω

v= 3v

i =  \frac{v}{ r}

i =  \frac{3}{7.5}

i = 0.4 \: amp
