Find the current through the resistor R4 if R1 = R2 =
R3 =20 ohms, R4 = 40 ohms. The emf of the battery is 4 V.

Explanation:

here, R1 = R2 = R3 =20ohm

R4 = 40ohm

emf, V= 4V

as shown in circuit, R1,R2,R3 are connected in parallel which combination is connected in series with R4

so, equivalent resistance = 20/3+40

     equivalent resistance = 46.66 ohm

now, total current in the circuit

       I = V/R

       I = 4/46.66

       I = 0.085A

since, I current is flowing through R4

therefore, current through R4 is 0.085A
