find the curved surface area and total surface area of a cone , if its slant height is 35cm and the base of the cone is 18cm ​

Given data :

⟹ slant height of cone, ( l ) = 35 cm

⟹ base of cone = 18 cm

To find : curved surface area and total surface area of a cone.

Solution :

Let, base of cone be the diameter of cone.

so, diameter of cone ( d ) = 18 cm

∴ radius of cone, ( r ) = d/2 = 18/2 = 9

Now, by formula

⟹ curved surface area of cone

= π * r * l

⟹ curved surface area of cone

= 22/7 * 9 * 35

⟹ curved surface area of cone

= 22 * 9 * 5

⟹ curved surface area of cone

= 198 * 5

⟹ curved surface area of cone

= 990 cm²

Now,

⟹ Total surface area of cone

= π * r ( l + r )

⟹ Total surface area of cone

= 22/7 * 9 * ( 35 + 9 )

⟹ Total surface area of cone

= 22/7 * 9 * 44

⟹ Total surface area of cone

= 198/7 * 44

⟹ Total surface area of cone

= 8712/7

⟹ Total surface area of cone

= 1244.571429 cm²

Answer : Hence, total surface area of cone is 1244.571429 cm² and curved surface area of cone is 990 cm².
