Now, acc due to gravity above surface is given by expression,
g' = g(1-2h/r)
,where r, radius of earth and g, acc due to gravity at surface of earth
And h, distance of object from earth
Now,
Putting values of r = 6400 km and h = 32 km in our expression, we get
g' = g(1 - 2x32/6400)
g' = g(1 - 1/100)
g'= g - g/100
g'- g = g/100
Now, if m is the mass of the body then it's weight on the surface, w = mg and weight above the surface, w' = mg'.
So, Decrease in weight,
( w' - w ) = mg'- mg
So % Decrease,
( w' - w ) % = (mg' - mg) /mg x 100
= (g' - g)/g x 100
= g/100/g x 100 (since, g' - g = 1/100)
= 1 %
Hope this helps!!!!!
