To differentiate :

y = x⁴ + 3x² + 2x + 1

Differentiate both side w.r.t x

=> dy/dx = d/ dx ( x⁴ +3x² + 2x + 1 )

=> dy/dx = 4x^(4-1) + 3 • 2 x^(2-1) + 2 x^(1-1) + 0

=> dy/dx = 4x³ + 6x + 2 .

Formula used :

d/dx ( x^ n ) = nx^ (n-1)

d/dx ( constant ) = 0 .
