so,

2(l+b)=28

l+b=14--------(1)

area=40m^2

thus

l*b=40

l=40/b

now putting the value of l in equation 1

40/b+b=14

40+b^2/b=14

 {b}^{2}  - 14b + 40 \\  {b }^{2}  - 4b - 10b + 40 \\ b(b - 4) - 10(b - 4) \\ (b - 4)(b - 10)

hence:-

b-4=0

b=4

b-10=0

b=10

therefore,

the dimensions of rectangle

length=10m

breadth=4m
