Given,

 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \sf{Marked \:  \:  Price, M.P. = Rs. \:  58} \\  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \sf{Selling  \:  \: Price, S.P. = Rs. \:  56.84}

To find :

 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \huge{ \sf{Discount = ? }}

Discount in rupee :

 \texttt{\underline{ \large{\: We know that,\:}}} \\  \\  \boxed{ \rm{ \pink{Discount = Marked \:  \:  Price - Selling  \:  \: Price}}}

Hence, using this formula,

 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \large{\tt{ Discount = M.P. - S.P. }}  \\ \\ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \large{ \tt{= Rs. 58 - Rs. 56.84} } \\   \\ \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \large{ \tt{= Rs. 1.16}} \\  \\ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \rm{So,} \\ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \rm{ Discount \:  \:  amount \:  \:  is  \:  \:  \red{Rs.  \: 1.16}.}

Discount in percentage :

 \texttt{\underline{ \large{\: We know that,\:}}} \\  \\  \boxed{ \rm{ \pink{Discount \:  \:  percentage = \frac{ \: Discount \: }{Marked \:  \:  Price } \times  100 \: }}}</p><p>

Hence, using this formula,

 \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \large{ \tt{ Discount \:  \:  percentage =  \frac{ \: Discount}{M.P.}  \times  100 }} \\  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \large{ \tt{=  \frac{1.16}{58}  \times 100 }} \\  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \large{ \tt{=  \frac{116}{58}}} \\  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \large{ \tt{ = 2}} \\  \\ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \large{ \rm{ \:  \:  \therefore \: \:  Discount \:  \:  rate  \:  \: is  \:  \:  \red{2\%}.}}

Marked Price (M.P.) is the price which is printed on the label of an article or a product. It is also called list price.

➳ Selling Price (S.P.) is the price in which the seller/shopkeeper sale an article or a product.

➳ The amount of rebate given to the buyer/customers by the shopkeeper/seller on the marked price of an article or product.

When discount is given to the customers, then the marked price is greater than selling price.

M.P. > S.P.

When discount is not given to the customers, then the marked price is less than the selling price.

M.P. < S.P.
