SOLUTION :

Given:

The cost price of an item is rupees 40 and it's selling price is rupees 36.

TO FIND :

The discount percent on the item.

FORMULA:

Discount =

 \frac{discount}{cost \: price }  \times 100

SOLUTION :

cost price = 40 rupees

selling price = 36 rupees

Discount = 4 rupees

We know that,

 \frac{discount}{cost \: price}  \times 100

 =  \frac{4}{40}  \times 100

We will cut 40 with 4 we'll get 10.

Than, we will cut 10 with 100 and again, we'll receive 10.

HENCE,

The discount is 10 %.

HOPES, IT'S HELPFUL TO YOU BRO. ^_^
