on comparing this eq with standard form of quadratic equation ax²+bx+c=0

we get

a= 1 ,b = 5, c= -6

discriminante D = b²-4ac

D= 5²-4×1×-6 = 25 + 24 = 49

D= = 25 + 24

D = 49
