Explanation:

displacement is the shortest distance travelled=5 cm(diameter)

total distance travelled= 1st round + half round

2pieR + pie R

pie R (2+1)

22/7 × 5/2 (3)

11/7 ×5×3

11×15/7

165/7

Consider the figure attached also.

The figure shows a circular track of diameter AB = 5.

Here the object starts moving from A.

If the object completes one and a half round, then probably the object finishes its movement at B.

Here the distance traveled by the object is 3/2 times the perimeter of the circular track.

We know perimeter of a circle of radius r is 2πr. So,

Distance = 2πr × 3/2 = 3πr.

Since the diameter of the circular track is 5, its radius is OA = OB = 5/2. So,

Distance = 3π · 5/2 = 15π/2.

Here we can take the value of π as 22/7. So,

Distance ≈ (15 · 22/7) / 2  =  165 / 7  ≈  23.57

Hence we got the distance.

If the object starts moving from A and ends at B, then the displacement will be AB = 5.

Hence we got the displacement.
