d =  \sqrt{(x2 - x1} ) {}^{2}  + (y2 - y1) {}^{2}

x1=-2 y1=8

x2=5 y2=0

d =  \sqrt{(5 - ( - 2) {}^{2}  + } (0 - 8)  {}^{2}

d =   \sqrt({5 + 2} ) {}^{2} + (0 - 8) {}^{2}

d  \sqrt{ {7}^{2} }    +   ( - {8}^{2} )

d =  \sqrt{49 + 64}

d =  \sqrt{113}

This is the right answer.
