Distance formula:-

 = ( \sqrt{( {x2 - x1})^{2} + ( {y2 - y1)}^{2} }

Solution:-

 =  \sqrt{( { - 5 - 2) })^{2} +  ({5 -  4})^{2}  }

 =  \sqrt{ {  ( - 5  -  2)}^{2}{  + 1}^{2}  }

 =  \sqrt{ { - 7}^{2}  +  {1}^{2} }

 =  \sqrt{49 + 1}

 =  \sqrt{50} or 5√2

=7.071(By squre root) or 7.070(By taking √2=1.414) (5×1.414)

=7.07 (In both cases we get 7.07 as approximate value).
