S O L U T I O N :

Let, R(-3 , 4) & S(6 , -2)

Here,

  • x1 = -3
  • y1 = 4
  • x2 = 6
  • y2 = -2

Applying distance formula,

XY = √(x2 - x1)² + (y2 - y1)²

[ Put the values ]

⟹ RS = √(6 - (-3)² + (-2 - 4)²

⟹ RS = √(6 + 3)² + (-6)²

⟹ RS = √(9)² + (-6)²

⟹ RS = √81 + 36

RS = √117

Therefore,

The distance between the points (-3, 4) and (6, -2) is √117.

For information :

Section formula,

⟹ x = (mx2 + nx1 / m + n) OR. y = (my2 + ny1 / m + n)

Midpoint formula,

⟹ x = x1 + x2 / 2 OR y = y1 + y2 / 2

Centroid formula,

⟹ x = x1 + x2 + x3 / 2 OR y = y1 + y2 + y3 / 2
