Given

Find the distance between the points (8, 6) and (5, 2).

Solution

Applying distance formula to solve this question

* Let A(8, 6) and B(5, 2)

Distance from A to B

➝ AB = \sf \sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2 + (y_2-y_1)^2}

➝ AB =\sf \sqrt{(5-8)^2 + (2-6)^2}

➝ AB = \sf \sqrt{(-3)^2 + (-4)^2}

➝ AB = \sf \sqrt{9 + 16}

➝ AB = \sf \sqrt{25}

➝ AB = \sf 5\:unit

Note

Section Formula

\sf \dfrac{m_1x_2 + m_2x_1}{m_1+m_2} , \dfrac{m_1y_2 + m_2y_1}{m_1+m_2}

Mid point formula

\sf \dfrac{x_1+x_2}{2},\dfrac{y_2+y_1}{2}
