By Distance Formula,

Distance =  \sqrt{[5 - (-8)]^2 + [ -6 -2]^2}

Distance =  \sqrt{(5 +8)^2 + (-8)^2}

Distance =  \sqrt{13^2 + 64}

Distance =  \sqrt{169 + 64}

Distance =  \sqrt{233} units

i hope this will help you

Hi.

Good question and Keep Progressing.

Here is your answer---

Let the co-ordinates of W(5,-6) and X(-8,2) be (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) respectively.

To find the distance between W and X, Using the distance Formula,

  Distance  = √ [(x2 - x1)^2 + ( y2 - y1)^2]
                  =
 [ (-8 -5)^2 + (2 - {-6})^2]
                  =
√ [ (-13)^2 + (8)^2]
                  = √ [ 169 + 64]
                  =
√233 units ( or 15.264 units)

Thus, the Distance between the Points W and X is
√233 units.
