The  distance of point p(1, 2, 3) from xy plane is 3 units

Step-by-step explanation:

If we draw the perpendicular from the point (1 2 3)  on xy plane

then the foot of the perpendicular is (1 ,2,0)

now , the distance of the point (1,2,3) from the xy plane is the distance between the points (1,2,3) and (1,2,0)

that is equal to

using the distance formula

= \sqrt{(1-1)^2+(2-2)^2+(3-0)^2}\\\\= \sqrt{0+0+3^2}\\\\=\sqrt{3^2}\\\\=\sqrt{9}\\\\=\sqrt{3\times 3}\\\\=3

hence ,The  distance of point p(1, 2, 3) from xy plane is 3 units
