distance from Point P(5, 4) from x-axis is 4.

equation of x - axis , y = 0 .

In standard form, 0.x + 1.y + 0 = 0 [ i.e., in the form of ax + by + c = 0 ]

now we have to find distance of point P(5,4) from x-axis.

we know, distance of point P(x1, y1) from line ax + by + c =0 is |ax1 + by1 + c|/√(a² + b²)

by using it.

distance of P(5, 4) from x-axis = |0 × 5 + 1 × 4 + 0|/√(0² + 1²) = 4
