The distance between a point and a line is the shortest distance between a fixed point and any point on the line.

The formulae is:

d = ( | a(x₁) + b (y₁) +c | ) /√(a² + b²)

Where ax + by +c is the equation of the line and (x₁, y₁) is the point.

Substituting the given values in the formula we have :

12 × 1 - (5×-2) + 4 = 26

12² + (-5)²=169

√169 =13

26/13= 2units
