TheViMAL: Usually when we have to find distance from the y-axis it means we have to find the perpendicular distance from that point and we know absicca (x-coordinate) on y axis is 0 and y-coordiante (ordiante) is -4

from y axis so x coordinate of the point from which the distance is to be found is 0 and y coordinate is the same as the point that is -7.

now by distance formulae -

the distance=√ (0-4)² +(-7--7)²

=√i6=4
