The edge of the cube is 3 cm.

  • Lateral surface area(LSA) of the cube is the sum of areas of all four side faces of the cube excluding the top and bottom surface.
  • Let a be the edge of cube.
  • Given,

                 LSA = 36 cm^{2}

  • Number of lateral surface in a cube = 4
  • Area of each surface = \frac{36}{4} = 9 cm^{2}
  • Each surface of a cube is a square.
  • Area of square with side a = a^{2}

                            a^{2} = 9 cm^{2} \\a = \sqrt{9cm^{2} } \\a=3 cm

Therefore, edge of the cube is 3 cm.
