Electrostatic Field Intensity due to charged sheet :

  • We shall use Gauss' Law to find out the expression.

  • Consider a cylindrical Gaussian surface coming out of the sheet.

  • We will consider the sheet to be infinitely large, such that the field vector will be directed outwards.

 \displaystyle \therefore \: 2 \oint \vec{E}. \vec{ds} =  \dfrac{q}{  \epsilon_{0}}

 \displaystyle \implies\: 2 \oint E  \times ds \times  \cos( {0}^{ \circ} )  =  \dfrac{q}{  \epsilon_{0}}

 \displaystyle \implies\: 2 \oint E  \times ds =  \dfrac{q}{  \epsilon_{0}}

 \displaystyle \implies\: 2 E   \oint ds =  \dfrac{q}{  \epsilon_{0}}

 \displaystyle \implies\: 2 E  s =  \dfrac{q}{  \epsilon_{0}}

 \displaystyle \implies\:E =  \dfrac{q}{ 2s \epsilon_{0}}

 \displaystyle \implies\:E =  \dfrac{( \frac{q}{s} )}{ 2\epsilon_{0}}

 \boxed{ \displaystyle \implies\:E =  \dfrac{ \sigma}{ 2\epsilon_{0}} }
