Answer:

Electric field = 1.25 x 10⁵ NC⁻¹

Explanation:

radius  of sphere r = 0.2 m = 2 x 10⁻¹ m

Surface Charge density σ = 40μC = 40 x 10⁻⁶ C

Charge on sphere q = 4πr² σ

                                  = 4 x 3.14 x 4 x 10⁻² x 40 x 10⁻⁶

                                  = 2009 x 10⁻⁸ C

                                  = 20 x 10 ⁻⁶ C

Distance d = (1 + 0.2) m = 1.2 m

Electric field E = 1/4π∈₀ x q/d²

                        = \frac{ 9 X 10^{9} X 20 X 10^{-6}  }{1.2^{2} }

                       = 125 x 10³

                       = 1.25 x 10⁵ NC⁻¹
