According to the Gauss Law

  • Any closed surface surrounding a net charge q has an electric flux given by \frac{q}{\epsilon}

where q = total charge enclosed by the closed surface.

ε=8.85 ×10⁻¹²

The electric flux is independent of the shape of the surface.

In the given figure the total charge enclosed by the figure is

+2 nC + (-1nC) = 2 nC -1nC = 1 nC

The net charge enclosed(q) = 1 nC

The electric flux = \frac{q}{\epsilon}

= \frac{10^{-9} }{8.85*10^{-12} }

= 112 N/C m²
