We know that Energy means ability to do work.

In this question, actually we have to find the Work done in lifting a body of 110 lbs through a distance of 35 ft.

Here we have

Mass of body = m = 110 lbs = 49.8953 kg

Distance = d = 35 ft = 10.668 m

We know that

Work done = Force. Displacement

                  = F.d

                 = mg.d       where  g = acceleration due to gravity

                 = (49.8953)(10)(10.668)

Work done = 5322.83 Joules

So 5322.83 Joules of energy will be required to lift 110 lb a distance of 35 ft.
