EXPLANATION.

Length of major axis = 3.

Length of minor axis = 8/3.

As we know that,

Concepts :

Standard form of the equation of ellipse.

x²/a² + y²/b² = 1  (when a > b).

Length of major axis = 2a.

Length of minor axis = 2b.

Using this concepts in this question, we get.

Length of major axis = 3.

⇒ 2a = 3.

⇒ a = 3/2.

⇒ a² = 9/4.

Length of minor axis = 8/3.

⇒ 2b = 8/3.

⇒ b = 4/3.

⇒ b² = 16/9.

Now, we can write equation of ellipse as,

⇒ x²/(9/4) + y²/(16/9) = 1.

∴ The equation of ellipse is x²/(9/4) + y²/(16/9) = 1
