Let, the parallel line be
3x + 4y + k =0 .....(ii)
The distance between the two parallel lines (i) and (ii) is
[ | k - 7 | ] ÷ root over [ 3^2 + 4^2 ]
i.e., [ | k - 7 | ] ÷ 5.
Given that
{ | k - 7 | ÷ 5 } = 2
or, | k - 7 | = 10
i.e., k = 17, -3.
Hence the parallel lines are
3x + 4y + 17 = 0 and 3x + 4y - 3 = 0.
