Find the equation of the locus of a point, the difference of whose distances from (-5,0) and
(5,0) is 8.

well its obviously hyperbola

y^2 + ( x+5)^2 = 64 + y^2 +( x-5)^2 +16 √( y^2 +( x-5)^2

20x -64 = 16 √(y^2 +( x-5)^2

5x - 16 = 4 √( y^2 +( x-5)^2

25 x^2 +256 - 160x = 16y^2 + 16x^2 + 400 -160x

9x^2 - 16y^2 = 144

x^2/16 - y^2/9 = 1
