Step-by-step explanation:

Let X – intercept = a

Y – intercept = b

By hypothasis a + b = 0

⇒ b = – a

Intercept form (x/a) + (y/b) = 1

⇒ (x/a) + (y/-a) = 1

⇒ x – y = a

But this straight line passing through (–2, 4).

∴ – 2 – 4 = a

⇒ a = – 6

∴ Required straight line equation is

x – y = – 6

⇒ x – y + 6 = 0
