Given : There are seven capacitors which are connected between A and B as shown in figure.

To find : The equivalent capacitance between A and B.

solution : have a look at rightmost side of combination.

three capacitors of capacitance 3C are connected in series combination.

so, 1/C₁ = 1/3C + 1/3C + 1/3C = 3/3C = 1/1C

C₁ = 1C

now C₁ and 1C are connected in parallel combination.

so, C₂ = C₁ + 1C = 1C + 1C = 2C

again, C₂ and 2C are joined in series combination.

so, 1/C₃ = 1/C₂ + 1/2C = 1/2C + 1/2C = 1/1C

⇒C₃ = 1C

again, C₃ and 1C are joined in parallel combination.

so, C₄ = C₃ + 1C = 1C + 1C = 2C

finally, C₄ and 1C are joined in series combination.

so, 1/Ceq = 1/C₄ + 1/1C = 1/2C + 1/1C = 3/2C

⇒Ceq = (2/3)C

Therefore equivalent capacitance between A and B is (2/3) C
