Required Answer :

Here, in this question it is not mentioned that till where we have to take out the equivalent fractions, we can take it up to 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on as we wish. But let's take it till 5, using the multiplication method. Solution is attached.

Equivalent Fractions :

• Equivalent Fractions have the same value even though the numerators or denominators are different. Some examples of equivalent fractions are 1/2 and 5/10; 1/4 and 2/8

• How do we find equivalent fractions?

> To find an equivalent fraction, multiply the numerator and denominator of the fraction by the same non-zero number

> To find an equivalent fraction, divide the numerator and denominator of the fraction with the same non-zero number

• How do we find equivalent fractions with a given numerator or denominator?

> Let's take two example for this!

Eg (i) Write an equivalent fraction of 2/5 with numerator 6

Solution (i) Let 2/6 = 6/?

Here, we have to find the missing numeral. To get 6 in the numerator, we need to multiply 2 by 3. So, we multiply the denominator also by 3.

\sf\dfrac{2}{5} = \sf\dfrac{2 × 3}{5 × 3} = \sf\dfrac{6}{15}

Hence, 2/5 and 6/15 are equivalent fractions

Eg (ii) Write an equivalent fraction of 42/56 with denominator 8

Solution (ii) Let 42/56 = ?/8

Here also, we have to find the missing numeral. To get 8 in the denominator, we need to divide 56 by 7. So, we divide the numerator also by 7.

\sf\dfrac{42}{56} = \sf\dfrac{42 ÷ 7}{56 ÷ 7} = \sf\dfrac{6}{8}

Hence, 42/56 and 6/8 are equivalent fractions.
