Find the equivalent fraction of 36/48 with

(A) numerator 9

(B) denominator 4

Given fraction : \dfrac{36}{48}


( a ) Numerator 9.

         Solution : -

Let that equivalent fraction is 9 / x.

We know that the values of equivalent fractions is always equal.


36 / 48 = 9 / x

x = 48 x 9 / 36

x = 8 x 9 / 6

x = 12


∴ Required equivalent fraction = 9 / x = 9 / 12



( b ) denominator 4.

     Solution : -

Let that equivalent fraction is x / 4 .

We know that the values of equivalent fractions is always equal.


36 / 48 = x / 4

4 x 36 / 48 = x

36 / 12 = x

3 = x


∴ Required equivalent fraction = x / 4 = 3 / 4
