Direct Variations :-

• Those quantities which are directly proportional to each other, means if one increases, other will also increase and if one decreases, other will also decrease.

For example :-

• On increasing the study time, we increase our knowledge.
• On increase in more plantation, rainfall increases.
• On decrease in pollution, there is decrease in diseases caused by it.

Inverse Variation :-

• Those quantities which are inversely proportional to each other, means if one increases, other will also decrease and if one decreases, other will also increase.

For example :-

• On increase in speed, time taken to cover distance decreases.
• On increase in plantation, there is decrease in pollution.
• On increase in economy, there is decrease in poverty.
