In ap we have common difference

so first we have to subtract second term and first term it is equal to be third time - 2nd term

3y+5-(3y-1)=5 y - 1 - (3 y + 5 )

3 Y + 5 -3 y +1=5y - 1 - 3y - 5

3 Y and-3 Y get cancel

so, 6 = 2y -6

2y=12

therefore y=12/2

y=6
