Concept:

Two numbers having the same sign are added to each number and the sign of the resultant is the sign of any number as both the numbers are having the same sign, and the two numbers having opposite signs are subtracted from each other and the sign of the resultant is the sign of the number having greater magnitude.

Given:

The two numbers are given.

Find:

The value of the addition of two numbers, ( -19 ) + 9.

Solution:

The value of the addition of two numbers, ( -19 ) + 9,

Value of the two numbers,

n = ( -19) + 9

As the numbers are of opposite signs. So, the numbers will be subtracted, as the greater magnitude of the number has a negative sign. So, the resultant has a negative sign.

n = ( -10)

Hence, the value of the  ( -19 ) + 9 = ( -10).
