if the resistors are connected in series then the equivalent resistance will be

R= r1+r2+r3

Re=70 ohm

if the resistors are connected in parallel then equivalent resistance will be

 \frac{1}{re \: }  =  \frac{1}{r1}  +  \frac{1}{r2}  +  \frac{1}{r3}

1/re =1/20+1/10+1/40

 \frac{1}{re}  = 0.175
