Correct Question :- AD = 2cm , DB = 5cm , AE = 4cm . if ∆ABC ~ ∆ ADE then find the value of x (ED) ?

Solution :-

since we have, given that, ∆ADE ~ ∆ ABC .

so,

→ ∠ADE = ∠ABC

→ ∠AED = ∠ACB .

as we can see that, pair of corresponding angles are equal .

therefore, we can conclude that, DE || BC.

then,

→ AD / DB = AE / EC (BPT)

→ 2/5 = 4/x

→ 2x = 20

→ x = 10 cm . (Ans.)
