Find the formula of halide of metal whose successive ionization enthalphy are x, 2x,5x,100x kj/mol respectively

As the 4th Ionisation Enthalpy is highest it indicates that after removing 3 electron it have attained the noble gas Configuration.

The formula for Metal Halling is AlCl3.

The metal is MCl3 type of halide Because it has +3 oxidation state of metal is most stable among all the oxidation states.

The successive ionisation enthalpy is increasing for metal but there is a sudden  increase in fourth ionisation enthalpy
This shows metal is more stable in +3 oxidation state that's why fourth ionisation enthalpy is very high.

That's why it will form MCl3 type of halide
