we will keep all these four in proportion
3:2:9:x
now we will put first and last together (3 and x together) and middle two together (2 and 9 together ).
Then we will multiply 2 and 9 together and 3 and x together. Then we will multiply 2 and 9 which is equal to 18 . then we will shift 3 , when 3 was with x then it was multiplying but when we shift 3 it becomes a divide . it means 18÷3 .
