Step-by-step explanation:

ATQ [according to the question]

so,x/y+4=1/2. .......(1)

x-5/y=1/8. ........(2)

by cross multiplication ,

x×2=(y+4)1

2x-y-4=0. .....(1)

8(x-5)=y

8x-y-40=0. .....(2)

subtracting equal.1to 2

2x-y-4=0

-(8x-y-40)=0

______________

-6x +36=0

x=-6

so,

y=2x-4

=2×-6-4

=-16

x=-6,y=-16
