Putting values in the formula

=$\dfrac {x+y}{2}$

=$\dfrac {\dfrac {1 }{7}+\dfrac {4}{7}}{2}$

=$\dfrac {1 }{7}+\dfrac {4}{7}×\dfrac {1}{2}$

=$\dfrac {1 +4}{7}×\dfrac {1}{2}$

=$\dfrac {5}{7}×\dfrac {1}{2}$

=$\dfrac {5×1}{7×2}$

=$\dfrac {6}{14}$

=$\dfrac {3}{7}$
