hey the answer is ......

let the denominator be x

numerator = x - 4 - 1

denominator = x + 3

x -4-1 / x + 3 = 1/5

x - 5/x + 3 = 1/5

cross multiply. ...

5 (x- 5) = 1 ( x +3)

5x - 25 = x + 3

4x = 3 + 25

4x = 28

x = 28/4 = 7

so the fraction is numerator = 7-4-1 = 2

denominator = 7+ 3 = 10

2/10 = 1/5

hope it helps uu frnd ☺ ☺

Let the denominator =x
then fraction = x-4/x

According to question :-

x-4-1/x+3=1/5

x-5/x+3=1/5
or
x-5=(1/5) × x+3
x-5= x+3/5
or
5x -25= x+3
4x=28
x=7

So denominTor =7
numerator =7-4=3

So the initial fraction is 3/7

and the final fraction = 3-1/7+3
2/10
= 1/5

Hope it helps.
