Given:

  • 12,16,24
  • 18,24,36
  • 8,30,42
  • 9,27,81

To find: GCF using continuous division.

Solution:

Find the GCF.

Part-1.)

\[\begin{array}{l}12 = 2 \times 2 \times 3\\16 = 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2\\24 = 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3\\GCF\left( {12,16,24} \right) = 2 \times 2\\ \Rightarrow GCF\left( {12,16,24} \right) = 4\end{array}\]

Part-2.)

\[\begin{array}{l}18 = 2 \times 2 \times 3\\24 = 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3\\36 = 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 3\\GCF\left( {18,24,36} \right) = 2 \times 2\\ \Rightarrow GCF\left( {18,24,36} \right) = 4\end{array}\]

Part-3.)

\[\begin{array}{l}8 = 2 \times 2 \times 2\\30 = 2 \times 3 \times 5\\42 = 2 \times 3 \times 7\\GCF\left( {8,30,42} \right) = 2\end{array}\]

Part-4.)

\[\begin{array}{l}9 = 3 \times 3\\27 = 3 \times 3 \times 3\\81 = 3 \times 3 \times 3 \times 3\\GCF\left( {9,27,81} \right) = 3 \times 3\\ \Rightarrow GCF\left( {9,27,81} \right) = 9\end{array}\]
