I am taking symbol alpha instead of theta.

You probably mean this:

sin(2 \alpha ) = \frac{1}{2} \\ = > sin(30) = \frac{1}{2} \\ = > 2 \alpha = 30 = > \alpha = 15

You probably mean this also:

 {sin}^{2} ( \alpha ) = \frac{1}{2} \\ = > sin( \alpha ) = \frac{1}{ \sqrt{2} } \\ = > sin(45) = \frac{1}{ \sqrt{2} } \\ = > \alpha = 45

I hope it helped!
