3sin 2 x+cos 2 x= 5cosx

3-3cos 2x+cos 2 x= 5cosx

3-2cos 2x=5cosx

2cos 2x+5cosx-3= 0

2cos 2x+6cosx-cosx-3=0

2cosx(cosx+3)+(-1)(cosx+3)=0

Cosx= -3, or (1/2)

value of cosx always lies between -1 & 1..
there fore,,
cosx=½
