Given:

  • Masses of two bodies; m₁ = 4 kg and m₂ = 6 kg
  • Distance between the bodies, d = 10 m

To find:

  • Gravitational force between the two bodies, F =?

Formula required:

  • Formula to calculate gravitational force (F) between two bodies of masses m₁ and m₂ and the distance between the bodies is d.

         F = G m₁ m₂ / d²

[ Where G is universal gravitational constant ( G = 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ m³ kg⁻¹ s⁻² ) ]

Calculation:

Using formula to calculate Gravitational force between two bodies

→ F = G m₁ m₂ / d²

→ F = ( 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ ) ( 4 ) ( 6 ) / ( 10 )²

→ F = 6.67 × 4 × 6 × 10⁻¹¹ / 10²

F = 160.08 × 10⁻¹³ N

Therefore,

  • Gravitational force between two given bodies is 160.08 × 10⁻¹³ Newton.
