Find the greatest number that divides 47,77 and 89 leaving the remainder 5 in each case

subtract 5 from each number
89-5= 84
57-5=52
77-5=72
then find the h.cf of 84, 52, 72
first find hcf of 84 & 52
84= 52×1+32 ( by euclid method)
52=32×1+20
32=20×1+12
20=12×1+8
12=8×1+4
8=4×2+0
then find the hcf of 4 & 72
72=4×18+0
hence the greatest no. is 72
