Solution :-

Since,

Remainder = 7

So,

Number to be divided = 247 - 7 = 240

And,

277 - 7 = 270

Now, We need to find the HCF of 240 and 270

Factor of 240 = 2⁴ × 3 × 5

Factor of 270 = 2 × 3³ × 5

Common factor = 2 × 3 × 5

HCF = 6 × 5 = 30

Hence

The greatest number which divides 247 and 277 leaves 7 as a remainder is 30.

Remainder = 7

The Numbers divided are :

247 - 7 = 240

and,

277 - 7 = 270

240 = 2⁴ x 3 x 5

270 = 2 x 3³ x 5

The H.C.F of 270 & 240 is

2 x 3 x 5

30

∴ The greatest number that divides 247 and 277 leaves 7 as remainder is 30 .
